Instructions for competitors

General Responsible organizers are Kiskon Kiskojat ry. and Kiskon VPK ry. Registering instructions are to be seen at the organizers internet pages www.kiskonkiskojat.fi. ( In Finnish only ) Please give your name, e-mail address, race distance and name of the club you represent if any. The organizers follow mainly the competition rules published by the Finnish Triathlon Association. Competitors are not insured, everybody competes on his/her own responsibility. Assistants are not allowed to help competitors during the competition without a permission from the organizers. Complete results are available at www.kiskonkiskojat.fi after the competition. The Prize Giving Ceremony after the competition is held at about 14.30. More information is available by e-mail kisko-triathlon(at)kiskonkiskojat.fi or by phone (in Finnish) 0500- 221553.

Competition Center

The Competition Center is located in Kiskon Kirkonkylä, address Kirkkojärventie 5. Confirmation of the participation is in between 09.00 – 11.00 at the office located in Competition Center. Competition number, timekeeping chip and other information for the competition is given from the office. Changing of clothes is at the changing area, where a separate tent for changing clothes is available. Bike racks and changing area are located at the Competition Center. Bike racks for basic distance and sprint distance are located on separate fields and are market accordingly.

Parking

Parking is arranged as close to the Competition Center as possible. There are 3 different parking areas. First one is close to the Competition Center, an old sports field, second parking area is by the Church and the last covers the closest streets and roads. Parking is free and staff members will assist to right area. Early arrivals get the parking spaces closest to the Competition Center.

Triathlon distances and series

You can compete in 2 different Kisko-Triathlon distances, the basic distance(1/4) and the sprint distance(1/8). Both distances are for men and women separately. The basic distance covers 1500 m swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running. The sprint distance correspondingly 500 m, 20 km and 5 km. Teams can participate as well but only in sprint distance. Team forms of 3 members where member number one swims, number 2 cycles and number 3 runs to finish. The first member (swimmer), can also participate in the individual competition (sprint distance race).

Swimming

Swimming will take place in the Kirkkojärvi-lake and start time is at 12.00 in two waves. The start area will be open for the athletes 10 min. before the start. When entering the start area athletes will be checked according to the competitor list concerning numbering and timekeeping chips. The map showing the swimming route is available at Competition Center and at the start area. The leading boat for basic distance swimmers is market in blue color signs and leading boat for sprint distance swimmers is market in red signs. Swimming Cap has to be used during swimming until coming to the beach where the Cap has to be leaved at point showed by Kisko Triathlon staff.

Cycling

Number vest has to be worn from the start of cycling part. Cycling helmet is obligatory. Tailgating is forbidden. The bike must be leaded by foot to the asphalted road, where cycling part starts. Cycling on the grass area is forbidden. Cycling has to stop at the same point and bike has to be leaded by foot to the bike rack. The cycling route is market in blue arrow signs and the route is as follows: Cycling route for basic Triathlon follows mainly road no. 186 into direction of Salo to turning point which is located about 4,5 km before Salo at Kiskontie 450 and returns to the Competition Center. The route is market every 5 km intervals. Cycling route for sprint Triathlon is following the same road no. 186 into direction of Salo to the turning point which is located at Lamminjärvi road cross and from where it returns to Competition Center. On the last downhill at the end of the route – about 100 m before the cycling finish line – overtaking of other competitors is prohibited. Drinks are served at the Competition Center and at the turning points. The bike has to be leaded by foot inside the changing area to the rack and can be moved after the competition only.

Running

The routes are market inside the changing area and after with red arrow signs in intervals of 1 km. Turning point is after 2,5 km, where a drinking point is located too. The basic distance consists of 2 laps. Turning after 2,5 km and back to the Kiskon Kirkonkylä village. Second lap starts just before the Competition Center to the same turning point and then back to the finish. You will not visit the changing area between the laps. Drinking point every 2,5 km intervals. The sprint distance use the same running route, but returns to the finish after one lap.
